Position Overview:

Job Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day operations and oversight of work for the assigned site or department. Responsibilities include staffing, supervision, and development of personnel, first-line for customer and patient complaints, enforcing and following existing policies and procedures, and managing within established budgets. Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and oversee staff with clerical and administrative responsibilities. May require clinical licensure or certification to evaluate and oversee clinical staff such as MAs, Phlebotomy Techs, and Ophthalmic Techs.
Supervisors with sole oversight of administrative or clerical staff and a minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory role may be able to advance to Supervisor II if the new role is appreciatively larger in one or more of the following factors: FTEs, locations, departments, operating budget, or other added departments, operating budget or other added complexity. Applicability will be determined by human resources review, including a compensation analysis. New or replacement positions will be reviewed in a similar manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of department staff and work assignments. Responsible for enforcing and following existing workflow policies and procedures (may provide input but not free to change it at will.) First-line for customer or patient complaints.
  • Responsible for orienting and training new employees.
  • Participates in hiring decisions. Participates in and/or conducts annual employee performance reviews. First-line for employee recognition and discipline.
  • Manages within operating and capital budget and may or may not have specifically assigned cost center: Develops budget recommendations, is responsible for managing within the budget, and may have input to the budget but is not accountable for creating it.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels and having final authority for approving overtime.
  • Follows the commitment to excellence and treats patients, families, visitors, and each other with courtesy, dignity, respect, and professionalism.
  • In addition to the key accountabilities listed, employees working in this position are expected to accept and perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma; Associates preferred.
  • CMA required to oversee MA staff must become certified in 1 year if not certified.
  • Clinical licensure or certification to evaluate and oversee clinical staff may be required
  • At least one year of managerial experience in healthcare, or a minimum of three years progressively more responsible related work experience.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure process improvement, initiatives and projects are successful.
PREFERRED:
Three years of experience managing a multi-physician practice.
