Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Part-time Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Donor Centre team on Oak St. The work of Registered Nurses is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role, you will be working on assisting in the collection of blood and blood products.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing confidential donor screening and providing donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation
  • Ensuring collection equipment and supplies are adequate and in good working order
  • Ensuring the safety and comfort of donors during and following collection
  • Guiding and assisting donor center staff and volunteers performing donor and product-related activities
  • Ensuring that all required documentation is carried out

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • A licensed Registered Nurse, able to practice in the province of employment
  • 1-3 years experience
  • Computer skills including word processing
  • Previous experience as a preceptor and/or coaching others to enhance job performance is an asset
  • First Aid and CPR certification an asset
  • Previous experience in a regulatory environment an asset
  • Previous experience in a blood collection environment is an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered

  • Team building skills, including constructive and conflict resolution
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and in writing
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in another language is an asset
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing work environment

Classification: BCNU Level 3

Additional Information Registered Nurse for Vancouver:

Rotational schedule: Mondays: 07:45 to 15:45, Tuesdays: 12:00 to 20:00, Wednesdays and Thursdays: 12:45 to 20:00, Fridays: 11:45 to 1900 or 1045 to 18:00, Saturdays: 09:00 to 17:00 or 07:45 to 15:45.Rest days: Sunday/Monday or Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday or Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.
