POSITION SUMMARY

Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Sugarbush is looking for a resort leader that will implement and coordinate the sales and marketing efforts. This role is responsible for guiding vital resort initiatives ensuring strong revenue and sales growth, high customer satisfaction via net promoter scores, and increased market share while maintaining a strong brand image. The Vice-President of Sales and Marketing works closely with the President and Chief Administrative Officer and is a member of the executive leadership team. Duties include implementing the resort’s marketing and communication plans, customer relationship management, email production, web design & production, event concept development, group sales, revenue management activities, and new product development. This position manages the marketing, and sales teams and provides coaching, guidance, and goal-oriented development plans for each employee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and implement effective marketing and communication plans that support all key resort initiatives. Develop and recommend comprehensive strategies that create and expand awareness of all resort activities and products.
  • Identify target audiences, budget, and ideal media outlets for all resort areas. Research and develop key new markets to grow skier visits and revenue for the Resort producing increased resort EBITDA.
  • Develop and lead the strategic direction for advertising and promotion to increase market share and further brand recognition
  • Manage all Resort and Business unit Advertising and Promotions
  • Contribute to Sugarbush’s review and implementation of Resort Strategies and related tactics and tasks
  • Provide thought leadership in the areas of marketing strategy, measurement and optimization, product development, brand advocacy, customer relationship marketing, social media and sales strategy execution, goal creation, and achievement.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, respect, and accountability within the marketing and sales teams, and throughout the resort.
  • Supervise the efforts of outside advertising agencies, media agencies, corporate website development, CRM resources, and any other organizations Sugarbush may contract with to assist in marketing efforts.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of resort marketing & sales plans and budgets. Track results and monitor spending to assure adherence to budget and results through regular analysis; adjust as necessary to meet the demands of an ever-changing resort and consumer environment.
  • Complete other tasks & duties as assigned by the President & COO and Alterra CMO.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to all employees to meet established performance goals. Work with each team member to outline training opportunities and goals.
  • Coordinate Alterra-wide initiatives including Ikon sales and sponsorship responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Vice President of Sales & Marketing

  • Applicants must be proactive, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • The candidate must have a collaborative working style, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger team.
  • Effective project management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments interacting with a variety of departments and employees. Able to accomplish projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Applicants must have extensive knowledge of all facets of marketing and sales. Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, results-driven, and strategic thinking. Proven track record and success in creative development, digital advertising, SEO, and brand management.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and leading high-performing, goal-oriented teams.
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of marketing and management experience. Background in the ski and travel industry is highly beneficial.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook skills).
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally.
