Job description / Role

Subsurface Technician

• Technician support of Reservoir Development team work efforts
• User support of technical interpretation activities (i.e., geology, geophysics and petrophysics) including use of Petrel and ArcGIS
• Import, export, reformat, and QC of various geological and engineering data types including well locations, well logs, seismic data, and satellite imagery
• Manage Petrel master data repositories; ensure new data is quickly added and pushed to user projects
• Identify and correct issues with well location and trajectory data
• Generate working maps (ArcGIS, Petrel), type logs, presentation slides, etc.
• Edit stratigraphic columns and templates, generate picks, correlate logs, identify faults, create cross sections, and generate supporting plots
• Create, edit, attribute, import and export GIS data
• Generate grids and grid/contour operations leading to finished maps
• Produce reservoir pressure contour maps on a quarterly basis
• Troubleshoot IT issues for Reservoir Development team and facilitate corrective actions with IT department
• Coordinate and maintain records of software licenses and usage statistics
• Assist on onboarding of new team members
• Assist in preparing PowerPoint presentations and facilitating audio and video teleconferences
• Occasional travel to Basra, Iraq to provide geotech support and mentoring to the geoscience operations and surveillance teams

Requirements

Subsurface Technician

• Bachelor of Science degree in geoscience
• 5+ years of work experience in petroleum geology
• Highly experienced in Petrel and ArcGIS (data loading and retrieval)
• Some knowledge of general IT issues including hardware and license management
