MSLSA Recruitment 2024 – Educational Requirements and Experience
Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel Qualifications:
- Experience in criminal law for at least ten years
- Outstanding oral and written communication abilities
- Excellent understanding of criminal law Thorough understanding of a defence counsel’s ethical duties
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others, as well as the ability to lead, is required. Must have handled at least 30 criminal trials in Sessions Courts; this requirement can be relaxed in appropriate circumstances.
- Computer system knowledge is preferred.
- Capable of managing the office and leading the team.
Qualifications for the position of Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
- 7 years of experience in criminal law
- Excellent knowledge of criminal law
- Excellent oral and written communication skills Legal research ability Thorough understanding of defence counsel’s ethical duties Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others
- Must have handled at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts; this requirement may be waived in exceptional circumstances by the Hon’ble Executive Chairman of the SLSA IT. Knowledge combined with work proficiency.
Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel Qualifications:
- From 0 to 3 years of criminal law practice.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- A thorough understanding of defence counsel’s ethical responsibilities.
- Ability to collaborate with others effectively and efficiently.
- Excellent research and writing abilities.
- IT knowledge with high work proficiency
