SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Tier I Details
As we already clear the SSC CHSL Tier I is a computer-based exam conducted online. Applicants are given a total of 60 minutes to solve the SSC CHSL Tier I paper comprising 100 questions that count to a total of 200 marks. For each wrong attempt, applicants are penalized with 1/2 mark which were 0.25 marks in the previous year’s recruitment.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Tier II
Candidates who qualify Tier I exam are called for the SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam. The Tier II of the SSC CHSL Exam will be in the English/Hindi writing skills of candidates, which is why it is a descriptive type of test. The questions asked in the tier II paper are based on 10th-standard concepts. The writing test of SSC CHSL Tier II companies an essay writing of 200-250 words and application writing of 150-200 words. The minimum number of marks that candidates need to attain in the Tier-II exam is 33% only.
SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier III
The SSC CHSL Tier III comprises a couple of skill tests that candidates need to qualify to get selected to certain government posts. The final merit list of candidates selected for the CHSL exam is prepared after this skill test. The skill test for SSC CHSL is as follows.
- Typing test for 15 minutes duration in which candidate must have the speed to write 35 words per minute (English Medium) and 30 words per minute (Hindi Medium).
- For VH – visually handicapped candidates (40% disabled), 30 minutes is provided for this test.
Points To Be Noted For SSC CHSL Exam
- SSC CHSL Tier I is an objective-type paper conducted only in online mode. Tier I has 100 questions of 2 marks each to be completed in 60 minutes. Candidates will lose 0.50 marks for every wrong answer.
- SSC CHSL Tier-II is a descriptive exam conducted in Pen and Paper mode only for the candidates who qualified for Tier I. There is no negative marking for wrong attempts in the SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam. Candidates must secure a minimum of 33% marks to clear Tier II of the SSC CHSL Exam.
- SSC CHSL Tier III is a skill test for Data Entry operators and a typing test for various posts such as PA/SA, LDC, and Court Clerk. Tier II of the SSC CHSL Exam is qualifying in nature. The Final Merit is prepared based on the scores obtained in Tier I and Tier II only.

- The topics asked in this exam will be related to National Interest, Finance and economy, Ecological Issues, Social Issues, Politics, Schemes, and Governance, Technology, Sports, Geopolitics, Environmental Concerns, etc.
- The minimum qualifying mark is 33%.
- The marks obtained in this exam will be added to the final merit list.
- The paper must be completely written in either Hindi or English. Papers that are written in Part English and part Hindi will be rejected.
Tier III Exam Syllabus
This exam will be a skill/typing test that would be of a qualifying nature here as well. The final merit of the selected candidates will be based on the total score obtained in the Tier – I and Tier–II exams.

About Staff Selection Commission
Staff Selection Commission – Combined Graduate Level Examination, often referred to as SSC is an examination conducted to recruit staff to various posts in ministries, departments, and organizations of the Government of India. It is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to select staff for various Group B and Group C posts. The Staff Selection Commission was established in 1975.
Candidates applying for the various posts need to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university at the time of applying. The age requirements are between 20 and 30 years. The age limits may vary depending on the position applied. For instance, the position for Inspector of Central Bureau of Narcotics which had an age range from 18 to 27 years, was extended to 30 years in September 2018. The application fee for 2017 is Rs. 100. All women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying the application fee.
