Job Summary
Responsible for all aspects of fleet safety programs and compliance with the Department of Transportation regulations. Develop and maintain driver engagement programs to improve safety performance and retention efforts. In partnership with Human Resources, develop recruiting strategies to attract driving professionals that align with BJ’s core values. Support each fleet domicile with compliance programs that ensure safety along with strong operational performance. Evaluate and implement technology solutions that ensure accountability, compliance, and safety within the fleet operation for the post of Vice President.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Lead the development and improvement of all activities to manage fleet safety and regulatory compliance for a fleet of 200 drivers
- Enhance driver-focused programs to attract, retain and develop professional drivers.
- Ensure the company’s training and compliance programs are aligned with industry best practices along with maintaining all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain systems and technology to improve compliance programs, support driver safety, and adhere to any changing regulatory needs.
- Collaboratively develop equipment and technology specifications for fleet operations that ensure strong service levels and driver safety performance is improved.
- Support cross-functional efforts to mitigate risk within the fleet operation and drive optimal insurance plans that focus on continuous improvements in safety and regulatory compliance.
- Manage accident response programs to ensure documentation and fact-based details are collected and maintained to mitigate exposure
Qualifications
- Deep understanding and expertise of the Department of Transportation regulations and evaluation of changes that could impact the business.
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Ability to support day-to-day operational needs as well as develop strategic vision and direction to improve programs
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local fleet and safety regulatory requirements such as FMCSA, OSHA, EPA.
- Demonstrated ability to drive significant, positive impact across a large-scale operating company.
- Experience in automotive transportation safety with telematics, incident management amp; risk identification.
